I went to this place to have my hair twisted. A very nice woman named Zara went with me to select the hair. They weren't judgmental she didn't ask me embarrassing questions about my hair. She did a great job at a reasonable price. Even my husband, who hates any kind of fake hair like ves it. I'll go back to her.

Bookie was very professional, she did not hurt my head when she braided and she asked every few braids was it too tight. It was clean and the atmosphere was welcoming. There prices were more affordable compared to another braid spot I have been going to for years. I would definitely go back here to get my hair braided.

Family hair braiding provides one of the best services I've experienced. Very professional and excellent service. Gertrude has been doing my hair since I've moved to Houston and I will not go anywhere else. Highly recommend this salon.

Very accommodating, was a walk in and the lady was able to take me and help me out with what I wanted to get done. The woman who did my hair was friendly and I enjoyed my time there. The work is neat and I would love to come back when I need to get my hair done again.

Family Hair Braiding is a great shop if you’re looking for professionalism, quick service and someone that listens to your needs. This is my second time coming to the Chimney Rock location and Ms Gertrude gave me great service. First, I did twist that I absolutely loved and now I have small knotless box braids. I have very fine hair and asked her to please watch my edges and not make them to heavy. They completely feel like my hair. My daughter and I won’t go to anyone else. Thanks so Family Hair Braiding. Highly Recommended...

Wonderful and sweet ladies. The young lady who did the back of my hair was very gentle, didn't make it too tight. However, the one who did the front felt as if she was trying to connect the braid and my scalp as one. I told her it was too tight and she lighten up for a little bit then back to the tightness. Now don't get me wrong, she did a great job. I would definitely return but ask for someone else for the front portion. Place was clean and comfortable, everyone was really nice and respectful.

Gertrude is absolutely awesome and gifted!!! She and the two young ladies who braided my hair today were professional, efficient, talented, and genuinely kind-hearted. I went to their Chemney Rock location which is a very comfortable location. I felt completely at ease and Gertrude also educated me (professionally and tactfully) on the things that I should do concerning my box braids and the overall health of my hair.

So I've been researching Braiding salons in my area. I came across Family Hair Braiding and Weaving Salon in my search and I passed by them daily to and from work. They had great reviews! I still kept looking at other spots and kept coming back to Family Hair. So I decided to stop in and talk to someone. I got a card and spoke with Gertrude and told her what I wanted and when. She scheduled an appointment for me the next day with MY BraidMaster...Antoinette! I decided on the Lemonade braids style. I got in at 9:30am and she started at 10am. By 2pm she was done. I was transformed into Teyonce! I turned so many heads for the 4th it was ridiculous! I've never had braids as an adult because I have a funny head shape LOL! I can't wait to go back for my next experience! Everyone was. Ice and the other Braid Sylist did great work too! You should definitely go they have 2 locations in Houston. I went to the Piping Rock location. I haven't missed one night sleep either, so that tells you they aren't uncomfortable! I've already booked my August appointment for my Birthday Party! Attention ladies!! This is the place to go, if you are looking or have been searching for salon/shop that braids with class!+ Quality work/ including a nice friendly warm atmosphere. FAMILY HAIR BRAIDING & WEAVE SALON IS AWESOME!! Ms Gertrude is an amazing person and her staff are excellent. I was able to speak directly with the owner, all my questions and concerns were answered. The stylist I made my appointment with was indeed the stylist who braided my hair. The ladies were very professional, the whole staff was pleasant, I was greeted the moment I walked in the door!!! Friendly /smiling staff!+ The service was faster than I anticipated which was an added extra. The salon was busy on this particular day with new clients like myself and old clients. Also Ms Gertrude was able to help me chose a style and was patient when I could not make up my mind. This business was easy to find, very clean, well kept & restroom clean as well. Overall my experience was ⭐⭐???????????????? Ms Gertrude is a very lovely lady, very talented and she had gained another satisfied customer which means I will be returning. Also Ms Bouky is very talented too. I recommend Family Hair braiding & weave salon to everyone who is looking for quality work ,affordable prices and a business that has great interpersonal skills. Gertrude was so sweet over the phone! Her and antoinette did my goddess locs. They came out very pretty. They were very quick. Only 5 hours with both. Everyone in the shop is so sweet. The shop is VERY clean. I can’t wait to come back. I have REALLY short hair and they did it without a problem! It was so hard finding someone who could braid short hair. Last thing, just remember to bring cash to your appointment if you book.

Initially: I carefully read the reviews of all braiding places near me and chose this Family Braiding and Weaving because this was the only place with amazing reviews. Not a single bad review so I hate that mine isn't as pleasant. There were occasional huffs, puffs, sighs, rude remarks, and criticism. I remained friendly because I understand that people have bad days. They will also try to pressure you into a different hairstyle if they don't feel like doing your preferred one. I have 4b hair by the way. I believe it was because there were 2 women, and one didn't know how to do Senegalese and the one that did didn't feel like doing it alone. So I went with the flow. Turned out great though. They've become nicer after I paid. One of the ladies rushed me to hurry up and pay even though the other lady wasn't done because she had somewhere to go. Pros: They are very good at what they do. Your hair will come out neat, very even parts, and decent quality. The salon is clean, and it takes very little time. My box braids took only 2 hours. You can't beat that. Prices: My box braids were $200. Medium length and medium sized braids. A bit pricey Compared to the estimated price that the owner told me over the phone. Whole experience: I rated 4 stars for the quality of the braids. Light weight and the ladies did a wonderful job. Took off one star from the unprofessional service but overall, you should try the place because my experience could be different from yours. I would definitely try again for a better experience but next time, I will request Gertrude instead.

My entire first experience with Family Hair Braiding was AWESOME from start to finish! Gertrude, the owner, is so patient and helpful. She was very easy to schedule an appointment with and told me the price, exactly what to bring, and what time to be there. When I got there, Demi (sp?), is who my appointment was with. She's amazing too!! Very sweet, easy to talk to, and funny. There as another young lady (I can't remember her name) who also helped on my hair and did an equally beautiful job. I was not only very satisfied with my hair, but the entire customer experience, I will definitely be recommending and coming back!

My experience was excellent. Friendly professional. I didn't buy enough bags of hair and Miss Gertrude allow me to go and buy more,without an inpatient spirit The shop is very nice and clean. Felt good about the whole experience.

I was so impressed with everything from scheduling the appointment to leaving the shop! I was researching for a good hair braiding shop in Houston and stumbled across this one. I was impressed by the reviews and gave it try. Ms. Gertrude was incredibly professional and nice with setting up the appointment. I was reminded of my appointment via text messages, also loved! The day of my appointment (1/7/2018), Josie was on time for my appointment was getting everything set up as soon as I got in the chair. Even while getting my hair braided, Gertrude, called me to see how I was doing and if everything was okay. I've found my new place to get my hair braided. I will most definitely be back and I highly recommend them to others.

Went there on a recommendation and was skeptical because I'm very picky. Gertrude and her staff are kind, patient, professional and needless to stay extremely talented. The salon is CLEAN and welcoming. I loved my hair and am now a Family Hair Braiding convert!! I'm sure to tell everyone I know about this beautiful discovery.

The ladies here truly live up to the name Family Hair Braiding! I have finally found a braiding shop where they listen and actually get what I am looking for in braids. Ms Gertrude has treated me as if I am her own sister by helping me go through different hair types to make sure I achieved the look I was looking for. She even hopped in the car with me to make sure I got the correct hair at the beauty supply AND tested a hair that I was interested in to show me that it wouldn't work. Now THAT is service like no other! This is the first place I've gone to in Houston that listens and executes a style to my satisfaction. I have been very pleased coming to the Houston location and they absolutely have a forever client in me!

I searched social media for a hair braiding shop and ran across Family Hair Braiding. I contacted the shop and spoke with Ms. Gertrude. She was very friendly and answered all my questions. I was not familiar with the type of hair that I was to purchase so I called Ms. Gertrude at least 6 times with questions. She was so patience and kind during every call. She even told me to stop by so that she could look at my hair and the type of hair I bought before my appointment in the morning. Luckily she did because I still bought the wrong hair! I went to purchase the correct hair and Gertrude even called me that evening to check to see if I was able to find the hair. While at the appointment Gertrude constantly asked if I was OK ensuring that the braids were not too tight. She was very much into healthy edges which I love because I have edges! I also changed the braid plan about 20 minutes after she started. Gertrude was receptive to the new plan and was able to modify the braids to suit my needs as I am very picky. Gertrude and Zara were very pleasant and provided great customer service! By the way, I got micro braids and they look amazing! I will definitely go back!

I was searching for a new braid place and I am so grateful I came across Family Hair Braiding and Weaving. Ms Gertrude is the epitome of professionalism and very sweet. I love the fact the it was not crowded or loud like some other shops tend to be. Ms. Gertrude did an excellent job on my hair. I will definitely tell everyone I know and I will be back.
